Frequently asked

How often should backups run?
That depends on how often data changes, how important it is to the business and how a loss could practically be handled. We derive backup cycles from those requirements instead of promising a universal schedule.
How long should backups be retained?
A useful retention policy depends on business processes, the required look-back period and any specific legal or contractual requirements that apply. We agree the appropriate rule for your environment rather than quoting a generic number.
Why do restore tests matter?
A successful backup job does not by itself prove that data can be restored completely and usefully. Restore tests check readability, the required steps and the documentation, exposing gaps before an incident happens.
Is Microsoft 365 automatically backed up sufficiently?
Microsoft 365 includes availability and recovery features, but that does not automatically replace an independently planned backup of every data set important to your business. We review which data and recovery paths should be covered within your Microsoft 365 scope.
Can you take over an existing backup solution?
Yes. We review the current solution, covered systems, failures, retention and documented recovery paths. We then decide with you whether to keep, adjust or gradually replace it.
Is Backup & Disaster Recovery a full business continuity consultancy?
Our focus is technical protection, monitoring, recovery and the procedures around them. A full business continuity programme covering every organisational and operational emergency process is a broader topic and is not automatically part of this service.
